The noise cancelling feature on AirPods 4 comes with an adaptive function which is able to automatically switch on when you are talking to someone in order to amplify people’s voices. It also allows you to overhear other people such as musicians in a train hall but at lower levels which makes the overall listening experience quite good. The aim of this function is to offer an experience that is easy to listen to by balancing out all elements of sound to a satisfactory level.

I love the new AirPods 4! I guess my ears are “air pods ears” and it stays in place forever. I almost forget I was wearing them.
