‘The floating debris containment barriers System 003, a large U-shaped barrier, encompasses an approximate distance of about 1.6 miles (2.5 km). The vessels are towed by two ships very slowly across the ocean. It collects all floating debris by virtue of the design that facilitates the collection of all waste into one large net located in the middle of the system, which is referred to as a the retention zone. After this the ships manoeuver so as to pull in the bag of waste using a buoy system and winches employed in the outer areas of the bag which maximizes the efficiency of collection. These methods of collection reduce the time and effort required during sorting and recycling of waste, since it is done onboard.’

You're not comprehending the enormity of that task. That one gyre is so large it would take hundreds of years to clean. Not counting all the crap that gets thrown back in daily. And then there are trash gyres in every ocean. Then there's all the trash and fish nets under the surface.  We are irresponsible pigs and waited until it's way too late. Good luck with all that. You're going to need a lot more boats. Thousands more. Thanks a lot.
